New: Free 3D File Converters and a Real Screen Recorder

STL, OBJ, and PLY conversion for 3D printing and CAD work, plus a screen recorder and screenshot tool that's been on our list since day one.

Two additions that don't fit neatly into an existing category, but are genuinely useful enough to get their own writeup.

3D & CAD file tools

If you work with 3D printing or CAD files, the 3D Mesh Converter handles STL, OBJ, and PLY formats in either direction, entirely in your browser — no upload to a third-party service. There's also a dedicated STL ASCII/Binary converter, and a 3D Mesh Viewer that shows a live wireframe preview plus vertex/triangle counts and bounding box dimensions before you commit to a conversion.

One honesty note: this covers STL, OBJ, and PLY — not STEP or IGES. Those are full CAD-kernel formats that need a real CAD library to parse correctly, and we'd rather not offer a converter that quietly produces wrong geometry.

Screen Recorder and Screenshot Tool

Record your screen, a specific window, or a browser tab directly — with pause/resume and optional microphone audio — and download as a video file when you're done. The Screenshot Tool uses the same underlying capability for a single-frame capture instead of a recording.

Both run entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded anywhere until you choose to download the result.
